A healthy snack filled with crunchie goodness

  • 75 ml coconut 
  • 250 ml flour
  • 100 ml oats 
  • 375 ml sugar 
  • 2.5 ml salt 
  • 5 ml ground cinnamon 
  • 250 g butter 
  • 40 ml golden syrup 
  • 10 ml bicarbonate of soda 
  • 62.5 ml milk


  • Combine all dry ingredients
  • Melt the butter with the syrup and add to the dry ingredients
  • Dissolve the bicarbonate of soda in the milk and add
  • Mix well
  • Press the crumbly mixture firmly into a greased baking tray to a depth of about 1cm
  • Flatten top with rolling pin
  • Bake at 180°C for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown
  • Allow to cool slightly then cut into squares
  • Lift out of pan and cool completely on a wire rack
