Who Citizens advice is and what they do

Citizens Advice is a network of independent charities throughout the United Kingdom that give free, confidential information and advice to assist people with money, legal, consumer and other problems.

There are highly trained volunteers supporting the delivery of the citizens advice service. The volunteers come from a range of backgrounds.

Citizens advice gives people the knowledge and confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are, and whatever their problem.

Citizens Advice will not charge you to call their national phone service or consumer helpline, however your service provider might do. Calls to their national phone service and consumer helpline are free from mobiles and landlines.

Some local Citizens Advice can only give you advice if you live in their local council area. It’s usually best to contact a Citizens Advice based in your local council area.

You can talk about your issue with a trained adviser online. They will try to help you solve your problem or make good progress towards it. In some cases, they might need to send you to your local Citizens Advice or a specialist organisation. Chat’s usually available 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. It’s not available on public holidays.
