There are many people who are moving to the United Kingdom, from South Africa and have decided to bring their pets across with them.
One of the biggest problems seem to face, is finding pet friendly accommodation on arrival.
Finding a property that accepts pets can often be difficult, and letting agencies are often reluctant to help pet owners and many landlords still add a no pets clause to their tenancy agreement.
A temporary solution may be to use pet minders or kennels while you are looking for pet friendly accommodation.
Pet CV’s
A CV for your pet and getting a reference from your previous landlord are good ways to persuade landlords that you and your pet are responsible tenants.
A pet CV can be used as an opportunity to explain about your pet’s behaviour and personality. You should also mention any training your pets have received and how they behave inside of the home. Include details of your pet’s last vaccinations and flea & worming treatments.
It is also a good idea to provide your landlord with the contact details of your vet and someone who can care for your pet in case of an emergency.
Getting a reference from your previous landlord will show that your pet caused no problems in your previous property and that you are a responsible tenant and pet-owner.
